Cattle Drives - Cattle
Roundups
Testimonial - August
2005
Marvin, Just a quick note to let you know I enjoyed
the all-too-brief trip out your way) more....

The
Pearson cattle graze on the adjacent national forest
land year round. Guests who ride horseback well enough
can help the cowboys with the challenging work of rounding
up the cows and moving them from one pasture to another.
The cattle can be spread out over ten square miles
of high rocky mountains, forest, clearings and valleys
so that riders are often off the beaten path in rough
country where one encounters wild game like elk, deer,
turkey, javelina and on rare occasions - black bear.
Not to worry - the wild game is more afraid of you
than you would ever be of them.
The first day is for arrival of guest, matching horses
to riders, setting up tack for each rider’s liking
and getting to know the ranch and each other. The last
day is for packing up, saying good bye to your new
best friend (your horse) and also to your new two legged
friends. The four middle days start off with a good
breakfast, packing your own lunch (since you know what
you like) saddling up and riding until the late afternoon.
The days will end with a good dinner and some tales
of the days' events around the campfire.

Cattle Branding
Testimonial
- May 2004
We finally made it
back home reluctantly. Neither Dave or
myself really wanted to leave. We had so
much fun. We both LOVE being out in the
woods. Us girls (Cathy, Nadine & myself)
got teary eyed when we had to leave (actually
before that - when we were riding the cows
back up mountain - kinda like a last goodbye
ride - Yvette will understand - a girl
thing)...
That will definitely
be a vacation I will never forget and always
cherish. I look forward to coming back
again someday.

| Guests
take part in gathering the cattle, separating
cows from the calves and help with branding
the calves in season. Branding is generally done
during the months of May, June, and July. The
guests are allowed to just watch or join in
and help. They can flank (throw and hold down
calves), brand and vaccinate. You are always
welcome to do as much or as little as you like.
